Children Count on You...And with You

Deb Romanek, Early Math Specialist with Nebraska Children & Families Foundation (NCFF)

Description: Counting is probably the first idea that comes to mind when you hear let's do some math.  Counting is one stop on the learning journey that children travel to develop number sense.  In this session, we will explore what comes before counting and share ideas on how to support young children to be on their best path for success with math.

Objectives:

     1. Encourage adults to become flexible users of numbers

     2. Understand the number sense trajectory and discover where subitizing and counting fit

     3. Reflect on how math activities reinforce the Nebraska math standards (bothe processes & grade level content)

     4. Identifiy resources that support adults & children to enjoy learning math together
